Knocking sound when I start my car

Does your vehicle make a knocking sound when you start it up, then stop soon after? Engine knocking on startup can be a sign of a sticky lifter in the engine. If you hear such a knocking sound, then wait, let your engine warm up and eventually the knocking sound should go away. Still, it would be a good idea to have Auto Repair Mom inspect your vehicle before you find yourself with more troublesome engine problems.

Does the knocking sound persist even after your vehicle has warmed up? A persistent engine knock could be related to a stuck lifter, incorrect air-fuel mixture, damaged crankshaft or bad spark plugs. This could signal more serious engine troubles and you should bring it in immediately to prevent more serious and costly engine damage.
